Job description:

Here's your chance to demonstrate the principles and applications of fire and emergency services including fire prevention, fire and emergency services administration, building design, fire behavior and combustion, incident command, fire investigation, private protection systems and fire service hydraulics.

Entry-level salary range:

$10.00 - $12.14/hour – Certificate option
$13.65 - $24.14/hour – Associate degree

Local employment outlook:

Faster than the average growth for all occupations through 2014. Most job growth will come from volunteer fire fighting positions being converted to paid positions in expanding suburban areas. Applicants with fire science education and EMT certification will have a significant advantage.

Fundamentals of Fire Protection, Fire Investigation and Arson, Fire Behavior and Combustion, Fire Protection Systems, Fire Protection Hydraulics and Water Supply

What it takes:

41 credit hours – Certificate of achievement
68-76 credit hours – Associate degree
